Conforma Therapeutics

Conforma Therapeutics, based in San Diego, CA, USA, is focused on the design and development of novel drugs for the selective treatment of cancer.

Based on initial technology invented at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Conforma is developing drugs that induce tumor cells to degrade the proteins that promote cancer growth. Conforma is using this technology to create a new generation of molecularly targeted small-molecule anticancer drugs with an early emphasis on breast cancer and certain leukemias. This approach also promises to have important applications in additional areas of medicine, including viral infection, inflammation and central nervous system disorders.

Conforma was acquired by Biogen Idec (NASDAQ: BIIB) in 2006.
